Our hack to stay on track with your fitness this Christmas

Our hack to stay on track with your fitness this Christmas

Christmas is a great time to celebrate with your friends and family and forget about work!

Unfortunately, some of us celebrate a little too much and end up giving ourselves the gift of those extra pounds on the scales to start the new year.

We thought we would share our tips with you to help you stay on track during the holidays.

1. Never Skip Breakfast

Just because you’re planning on having turkey with all the trimmings or celebrate later in the day with those 10 crates of alcohol with your name on, doesn’t mean you should skip breakfast.

Breakfast will jump start your metabolism and keep your blood sugar steady meaning you’ll be less likely to overeat later in the day especially with those meat sweats!

We have over 20 indulgent breakfast recipes to keep you on track!

2. Use a smaller plate....Give it a read at least!

A smaller plate means smaller portions.

When you use a regular plate, the correct portion sizes always look too small, which leads to us taking more food than we actually need just to fill the plate.

With a smaller plate, the normal portion sizes will make the plate look more full.

3. Stick to Water… as much as you can

We all know Christmas is great for celebrating and you MAY want to have a drink or twelve. That’s fine. But remember from last year... going overboard will do nothing but lower your inhibitions and make you more likely to overeat later in the evening.

4. Cook Whenever You Can

When you cook, you control the ingredients. Challenge yourself to make a healthier, lighter version of one of your favorite holiday dishes...we have some inspiration here.

Talk to your friends and family about doing the same.

You don’t have to get rid of your pigs in blankets, just try to make some healthy substitutions like adding extra vegetables, etc.

5. Don’t Forget to Exercise

We are at a big advantage this year to previous year with the amount of 24 hour gyms nationwide available at our disposal even at Christmas, so use it.

But if you can’t get away from the home, you can always go for a walk before or after your meals…

For an added bonus, make it a family thing.

Now you tell us,

What’s your favorite hack to help you stay on track during the holidays?
