Job Opportunities at Lo-Dough
Current Vacancy: Finance Manager
About the Business
Three years ago Lo-Dough was an improbable idea on a kitchen table. Two years ago inquisitive neighbours wondered what was going on in a garage that had been converted into a test bake lab. In June 2017 we posted out the very first orders to our very first customers. That night we sat at our pilot manufacturing site in Rochdale and wondered what lay ahead...
Today we are over 30 dedicated people sending out hundreds of orders a day across the UK and beyond. We're what would've happened had Willy Wonka been based in Silicon Valley. A really innovative food production process making a disruptive foodstuff built on a direct to consumer channel strategy.
Now with over 80,000 customers and sales to over 35 countries we've enjoyed a brilliant journey, fuelled by a brilliant team of innovators, process people, technical types, content creators, warehousers, channel planners, eCommerce analysts and more. We've even got a Chef.
But what we don't have is a Finance Manager. And given how we've grown, and the exciting journey that lies ahead, we need one.
About the Finance Manager position
The Finance Manager we need will know what it means to work in a small, exciting, high growth environment. They'll know that everyone pitches in. That there are no ivory towers.
You'll be able to fit into a culture that is fluid, raw, exciting, unstructured. And to help bring more structure to that culture. Enough structure to harness the potential, not suffocate it.
Importantly, we need someone who, right now, isn't frightened by the need to do the detail, the nitty-gritty. Because, whilst this role will take in the bigger picture stuff, it'll also be responsible for the day to day of invoices, payments, reporting and the like. We don't have a team of accountants yet. It'll just be you. For now, you'll own everything in finance from the bottom up.
But we do need someone who is excited by the opportunity to really help shape our future growth. Someone who can report, analyse, forecast, challenge, advise.
That'll include analysing sales trends, advising on margin of new and existing products. It'll mean going deep into eCommerce analytics and providing insights that help us drive performance.
You'll report on existing operations and help model and present plans for the future. A future that involves new products, new premises, new processes and new territories.
As well as eCommerce and front-end activity you'll be equally excited by the need to drive efficiencies and productivity in our food-tech manufacturing side. So, as well as creative and eCommerce types, you'll be working shoulder to shoulder with our production team to help them analyse and understand how we can continue to develop and improve our operations.
And so the right person is likely to wear a number of hats. Head of Finance for sure. You'll also wear a fairly jaunty commercial hat. And hopefully a strategy and planning hat. Your reporting and control and systems hats will be well and truly nailed on by now.
But despite all those hats, your head will always remain level, composed, humble even. And you'll think nothing of making the team a brew. Or putting on a set of overalls so you can see what its like on the shop floor.
You'll shape your day as you get to know us and the business. And, for the right person, we'll be flexible about those days. And the hours. We think its probably part time right now, with the hours increasing as the scale and complexity of the business increases.
You'll most certainly be a qualified accountant (CIMA, ACCA or ACA). You'll already have operated at a managerial level. And you'll have a track record that demonstrates how your initiative and your intellectual horsepower has helped you understand key business drivers and, through that understanding, helped the business make better decisions through incisive reporting and control. But, and we can't stress this enough, you'll be prepared to get into the detail and build your understanding from the bottom up.
If this sounds exciting, that's because it is. For the right person, this really is a fantastic opportunity.
One last thing. If you love food, that'll help. Especially pizza. We make the most delicious, lightest, lowest calorie pizza you've ever tasted. Maybe check out our Instagram and see what our customers are saying - just search for Lo-Dough.
If any of this sounds like you, whizz over your CV to email@example.com. And tell us briefly what it is that excites you about this opportunity. Hopefully catch you soon.
