The Classic Meat-Free Pasty Gets A Low-Calorie Makeover

This is veggie comfort heaven! A hot, baked piece of Lo-Dough encasing a mixture of cheese and onion - that most natural of flavour combinations. The cheese is melting and savoury, the onions still a little toothsome and slightly sweet. The experience? Pasty heaven for just 209 calories and a surprising 8g of carbs (considering the high in carb onions). We've used a reduced fat cheddar (Eatlean's Tasty) to help keep the fat down and we thoroughly recommend it, but you can use whatever you can get from the supermarket if you don't have this to hand.

Simple Low-Calorie Recipes

This recipe is incredibly simple to make. Fry your onion, add to an equal amount of cheese and place in the centre of your Lo-Dough. Wet the edge liberally with some water, folder over and press together to form your pasty shape. Egg wash and bake on a try for approx 20 minutes at 180C... Job done! You can eat it au natural or serve with a dollop of your favourite table sauce. 

If you wanted to customise the recipe, you could add flavourings like thyme or even chilli in with your mix. It's really up to you - have a play around and look forward to the lowest calorie cheese and onion pasty in town!
