Can you toast Lo-Dough in a toaster?

Please DO NOT toast Lo-Dough in a toaster. It does not behave like normal bread and will burn far too quickly. In very rare cases it has been shown to damage the toaster or set on fire. For a toasted Lo-Dough please cook it briefly in a pan as described on our How to Use page. Lo-Dough works best when you don't dry it out and use it as a flavour carrier.

Is Lo-Dough gluten free?

Yes, Lo-Dough is gluten-free. We use all certified gluten-free ingredients. Lo-Dough is made in a facility where other ingredients containing gluten are occasionally used. We make sure that all storage and production activity is kept separate and implement policies to avoid cross-contamination. We regularly send our finished product to a UKAS Accredited laboratory to verify that it is gluten-free. However, we are yet to apply for (and therefore receive) an official accreditation of gluten-free status. If you are coeliac and need further clarity on the gluten-free status of Lo-Dough, then we advise you to contact the Coeliacs Association for further advice.

How come it's gluten-free if it has wheat fibre in it?

We use a dietary fibre, made from the wheat plant, which has been certified gluten-free in line with UK and European legislation. This means it has been officially certified to contain less than 20mg/kg of gluten. In fact, the wheat fibre we use falls demonstrably below a gluten level of 10mg/kg.

If you have a severe wheat allergy we do not recommend using Lo-Dough as some of the other wheat-based allergens may still be present.

Is Lo-Dough yeast free?

Yes, Lo-Dough contains zero yeast.

Cake Bar Questions

Are the Miracle Cake Bars available to buy in shops?

Not yet, but watch this space.

Are they gluten-free like the other Lo-Dough products?

Unfortunately not. These are produced in a factory that handles gluten containing cereals and small. We advise that nobody with a gluten intolerance eats this product.

Are the Miracle Cake Bars suitable for Keto?

Unfortunately not. We know the bars are low in sugar, and a lot of the total carbs are made up from polyols, so they may be used as part of a reduced-carb and low-sugar diet, but not for keto.

We will be working on a keto-friendly bar in the future. We have not forgotten you!

Are the Miracle Cake Bars suitable for Diabetics?

We believe it will be suitable for diabetics since the sugars and starches are very low. Our polyols and sweeteners have a very low GI or are used in very small amounts. However, until we have laboratory tested the impact of our bars on blood sugar and glycemic load, we cannot advise that they are suitable for diabetics just yet.

I find the Miracle Cake Bars incredibly filling. Is it fine to save half an opened bar for later?

Absolutely, please do! Simply fold the foil over and save the other half of your bar for when you are feeling hungry again later in the day. The bar is packed with fibre and is designed to satisfy the most ravenous of appetites.

Dietary Questions

What foods are best for low-carb diets?

Low-carb diets require a reduction of carbohydrates from an individual's daily meals, dropping to somewhere between 50g and 150g per day. Unlike stricter low-carb diets, you will be able to eat all fruits and vegetables on this diet, as well as low-carb bread replacement products like Lo-Dough.

What is a keto diet?

The ketogenic diet is a very low carb (approx 20-50g per day), high fat diet. It involves reducing carbohydrate intake and replacing it with fat, while maintaining a mid-range level of protein intake. This will involve monitoring your fruit and vegetable intake. The reduction in carbs puts your body into a metabolic state called ketosis. At 2.2g of carbohydrate per base, Lo-Dough is the perfect carb replacement product, allowing people to enjoy pizzas, kebabs and more while staying in ketosis.

Calorie Counting diets?

If you are counting calories as part of a dietary plan, Lo-Dough is the perfect product to have in your armoury, as it contains only 39 calories (0.1g fat, 2.2g carbs and 0g of sugar). It is the perfect launch pad for any diet. It is, for the most part made of protein and fibre—the fibre helping to keep your belly full.

How do I reduce sugar in my diet?

Sweet treats are one of the joys of life, but there are ways of enjoying them without the excess sugar. Lo-Dough bases can be blitzed and used as a baking ingredient to be combined with quality sweeteners. Unlike other baking products, Lo-Dough is sugar-free. We also offer other low-sugar products, including our Southern Style Coating, Brownie Mix and incredible low-sugar Miracle Cake Bars.

Fasting Diets?

Lo-Dough is a great tool to have up your sleeve when following a fasting diet. On a fasting day you will likely be limiting your calorie intake to around 800 kcal. With Lo-Dough, you can still easily enjoy pizzas, kebabs, brownies, southern fried chicken and cake bars, even on a fasting day!

Low carb pizza? Really?

Absolutely, Lo-Dough really does make the perfect low-carb pizza—as low as 4g carbs per whole pizza! No matter how you top your pizza, the carb reduction offered by a Lo-Dough pizza is nothing short of revolutionary and all without compromising on flavour.

What low calorie snacks are available?

Lo-Dough offer a number of fantastic low-calorie snacks. From cake bars to customisable brownies to any number of sweet and savoury snacks made with our original bases, Lo-Dough is the perfect place to start looking for low-calorie snacks.

Low fat food?

Reducing your fat intake while watching sugar intake and portion size on carbs is another way to lose weight. These are the principles of most slimming club diets. Lo-Dough is fat-free and perfect for this type of dieting.

Low calorie meals?

Lo-Dough is uniquely versatile and can be used during any meal of the day and one of hundreds of incredible recipes available on our site. It's most popular use will always be pizza, but it's so much more than that!

Is fibre good for weight-loss?

Studies have shown that consuming 30g of fibre per day can aid weight loss, amongst other benefits. Lo-Dough contains a massive 9.3g of fibre, and our cake bars contain nearer to half your daily fibre (15g). We are the dieters secret weapon!

What is a calorie deficit?

A calorie deficit is the energy your body requires to keep going and maintain your current weight, minus your dietary calorie intake. So, for example, if your body needs 2,200 calories per day and you only feed it 1,800 calories a day, you are in a 400 calorie deficit. Lo-Dough and the meals made with it are so low-calorie, you can achieve a calorie deficit with relative ease.
